Marion Banks
Marion Banks was born and raised in Habersham county. As a young adult, he became a resident of Franklin county. Marion enlisted as a private in the 37th Regiment, Georgia Infantry, Company
F. He enlisted on February 1, 1864. He was captured near Nashville on December 16, 1864 and listed in a roll of prisoners in Louisville, Kentucky on Jan 2, 1865. Marion Banks was transferred January 4, 1865 to Camp Chase, Ohio. He was released from Camp Chase, OH on June 12, 1865. By then, General Robert E. Lee had already surrendered on April 9, 1865.
